Thinking about changing to MPlayer for VGR.com media streaming.
I saw it in use on a couple of other band sites. http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

GOT A LITTLE CRAZIER WITH RSS & CSS!
With Ryan's help, we changed the RSS feeds from RSSinclude to their "Naked HTML" template so that we could take advantage of editing the style of the feeds on our website with CSS. It looks much better now because we got rid of the plain white background and edited the font sizes, types, & colors. Check out www.VanGoghRescue.com to see it in action on the News & Press pages!

RSS feeds to our Website and Facebook!
Our blog site now provides RSS feeds to update our website news & press pages. This was accomplished with a premium membership to RSSinclude.com. A tour page is next in the works along with some other website modifications, mainly stretching of the subpage content areas along with the background images so the scroll bars can be deleted. The graphics and look of the site will change also.
Additionally, RSS feeds from this blog are still provided to our Facebook & Twitter accounts through 2 different Facebook application called Networked Blogs & Bandpage. Networked Blogs uses the VGR NEWS RSS feed and writes the newest blog post to our wall and Twitter. Bandpage uses the VGR TOUR RSS feed and keeps a log of tour updates on a separate tab at the bottom. I wish Bandpage would allow multiple feed tabs so there could be 1 for each blog (i.e. NEWS, TOUR, PRESS, etc.). I suggested this idea to them so we'll see.
RSS is pretty sweet...should've done this a while ago.

RSS Feed Testing to Facebook via NetworkedBlogs App
Testing this complicated way of simplifying updates to VanGoghRescue.com, Facebook, & Twitter simultaneously. This shit better work!
New for 2011
This blog site was created as a way to feed RSS updates to our website, VanGoghRescue.com. Each individual blog serves as a feed for a different page on the site such as Tour updates, Press announcements, and our News updates.
Significant news updates can be tied to our fan email list by adding the address to the blog post and sending it out manually as opposed to a constant newsletter.
Any of these RSS feeds can be copied and added to other sites like normal and fans can even follow our blogs here if they wanted. Right now, our tour blog is fed to our Facebook page through an app called Bandpage. We've used Bandpage to streamline the look of our Facebook profile in order to get info to fans more efficiently.
It also provides a quick and easy way to update from the road with mobile devices by utilizing the mail-to-blog feature.
More to come on all this great stuff!
